After the video:  

Open your Google Doc called What’s Killing The Fish In The Gray Water Area.  It should be in your science folder in your Drive.  If you don’t have one, make one. Ask a neighbor for help.

Under Evidence, you are to copy and paste these questions:

1) What did the chemical test for chlorine show?

2) In the biological test, what did you find out about water fleas downstream from the water slide?

3) Can you think of an explanation for the conflicting results (since one seems to show that the slide is not affecting the river and the other seems to show it is)?

4) Do you think chlorine is killing the water fleas? Please explain.

5) Do you think chlorine is killing the fish? Please explain.

You are to answer these questions in complete sentences.  You can work together in your table teams.

1-28-2014 Chlorine Files

Create a Google Doc and call it What's Killing The Fish in the Gray Area.

Put it in your science folder.

Write CLAIM:  Write what you think might be killing the fish.  Look at the map if you forgot.

Write EVIDENCE under your claim.

The first evidence we will consider has to do with the Water Slide.

The County Board of Supervisors thinks it might be chlorine chemicals from the Water Slide.

We have the record of the meeting.  Can we have four volunteers to read it?

Activity:
You will now receive the same documents the Board received.  DO NOT WRITE ON THESE DOCUMENTS.

In your envelop, you should have 5 pages of Chlorine Files and 5 pages of water flea slides.

Split up the documents and look for evidence. Write anything you think is important in your Google Doc.  Then you will come back together as a team to share your findings.

Then you will use the Chlorine Discussion Card to discuss your finding with your team.

Be sure to be able to:
Summarize the results of Juno Tuno's biological test.
Summarize the results of the chemical test.

Today we continue our readings about thermometers with an activity called What's The Word.

Go to your Drive and find your Doc called Readings Thermometers.

If you were absent and don't have this Doc, you will need to create it.  Click here and copy/paste the first reading into your Doc.  Get your shoulder partner to help you.

First we will read the selection together to refresh our memories.

Second, shoulder partners will read the 2 paragraphs to each other.  When they do it, they will leave out a word and their partner will have to guess the word!  Let's see how you do!
